Hi all. I'm new to the forum after having moved back here from a terrible two years living in Dallas, Texas.

I was inspired by their fishing community. They had created a bank fishing map of their entire state that had a lot of the more popular locations for fisherman new to the area (like me!) to use to explore their new hunting grounds. It's really impressive, and made my time starting out fishing down there much easier. Did everyone go and reveal their honey holes? Heck no! But they did share some places they know of that a beginner might go and have a chance of snagging something.

I'd like to start one for the state of Minnesota.

You can find the link to the map here.

If you want somewhere added, let me know and I'll put it on there. Please be specific if you can. If you just say "Pool 4" or "Mille Lacs", it's not really very helpful.

This map is shared publicly, so anyone can access it publicly.

I like it! Welcome to the forum. :)

.

Can the little fish heads be color coded? Kind of like the heightened state of awareness color chart so we know how the bite is?  :P

Look under Anoka county they have a lot of shore listed and so does the henna[pin county one

I like the way they listed theirs the others can be difficult to search through all the boat ramps for piers or what not but

I don't think it is listed but another good one is montissippi park in Monticello by the boat launch you can wade out a bit and get eyes and smallmouth bass

Haha I love the idea of color coding the fish! Just let me know where your best fishing spots are and I'll be sure to add them.

Thanks for all the links guys. I'll work through these.

What a difference a day makes.  Fishing was very slow today.  Biggest I caught was only 13 inches.  Marked a lot of fish but couldn't get very many to bite.   The wind was very strong today and did cause a little bit of drifting, but travel is still good on the latke.  Just avoid the snow banks and drifts.  Saw one house get pulled off the lake, and didn't see any new houses come out before I left the lake at 4pm.  Lots of snowmobiles and trailers in Tower.  At least the city and lake will be busy with those.   Good luck fishing if you go out the last weekend of the winter season.

Ice condition didn't change much in the last week as shown in the McKinley Park photo from today.  The holes in my house froze all the way down in the last six days; 40 inches of ice now.  I drilled my two holes 24 inches and cleared the shavings out before reaching water.  Much cleaner way in a permanent house.   Fishing was pretty good today.  Caught two 24" walleyes, including the 5#-7oz fatty pictured.  Also caught a 19 incher.  Best bite was from 11 to noon.  Much better action with chubs than shiners today.  Never tried the pike suckers I had.   Good luck fishing the last weekend this winter.  Going to be very windy Friday, but drifting shouldn't b a problem since there is no loose snow on the lake.  Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm.  Still about 35 houses left out from McKinley Park.

Too bad she’s after big game when she leaves home.  Your one eyed trouser trout might not lure her in. 😉
