Hows the ice holding up on the Chain?

Was on the boat Sunday got a little further past the 49 bridge.

Is the 22 landing opening up at all? Anyone know how much ice is even out there?

I would think we made a little.

Take a drive past it and see for yourself. The ice looks surprisingly terrible compared to other lakes in the area. I went out there intending to fish this afternoon and barely even slowed down when I saw the looks of it. The ice is very dark and has water pooling everywhere, even with this recent cool-down. It looks like water is pushing up over top of the ice. Channel Marine told me to head elsewhere, as well.

 

This is coming from someone who is one the first anglers to hit the ice in December and one of the last to leave in March. I'll be out there with the long rods in about 3-4 weeks.

Plan on cat fishing this weekend on the boat again. I figured even with the cool weather it would be looking rough.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news but when i drove across the 23 bridge this morning, the river access was iced over!!!!!!!!!

Oh nuts I was Afraid of that. Maybe it will melt by Sunday? Smurfy thanks for telling me I do appreciate it.

it looked as though it was just skimmed over so i'm sure it will be gone by then!!!!!!!!!

I drove up to look at it today. 1/2 inch of ice. I broke some by the landing. I think Sat. may be to early don't want to hurt the boat. I think your right I think Sunday I should be cat fishing on the boat.
