It’s been the toughest of the winter for me the last 3 weeks or so. Today I hiked about 7 miles on a few different lakes and caught 1 perch and 1 Gill. Drilled a ton of holes and searched from 3-45fow. Just dead! But it’s been that way the last few weeks! Can mark fish here and there but getting them to bite its almost impossible. But none the less it’s nice to get out and not have to listen about covid everywhere you go, look, radio stations ect.

Yes!! if it all comes to worst i"l just pack my stuff up go out on the lake set up camp and the shack and live out there on the lake.

Wish I could say the same had over 50 people on the ice by me today NW of Alexandria. Pretty decent bite going on with both species iced some slabs . I honestly would take first to mid winter ice over late ice any day.  IMO Way better fishing earlier in the season before the masses beat the crap out of everything. Early bird gets the worm.  Yes I know you can always hit lakes that haven't been hit yet  and find hot spots and I do but your popular panfish lakes that most fish everyone knows the quality in them and the masses always come and the fish get pounded. Hence why you see tough bites and quality fall later as the season progresses.  It Has been very quiet on the lakes lately almost zero pressure locally  and there will be one less by end of the week. I'm fried time to end it. Bye Bye ice hello open water

LOL! Just about there have to extend that arm so its just about in the phone so you can make everybody think it's at least 10 inches.  Guys with long arms have it made

how thick is the ice where you guys are going out and how are the launch conditions I havent been out since friday so I was wondering how much it has changed?

Especially for those off work due to CV.

 

It's easy to social distance and keep under groups of 10 while ice fishing.

Hit up one of the bigger lakes in the Alexandria area with Tom today. Best action was very shallow, 4-6ft on a large weed flat.  Emerald Impulse mayfly on a 3mm tungsten wonderbread was putting my fish topside. Kept enough for crippled up Eyeguy and his better half so they could have a meal of fresh fishies

Fun times as always Rick, sure was an awesome day to be on the ice. May need to pack the waders for one last run. Access is getting tougher.
