Dubnyk is pretty stellar.  Defensive player has been very good.  Holy cow, we can actually put the puck in the net.

I hold my optimism close, history as a minnesota fan can be painful.

That being said, I am enjoying the season thus far

Wow, the Wild are in 1st place with 3 games in hand as well.

Who do you think are the guys that are getting it done?

zucker- 2nd in goals, real threat to score every time he's on the ice.

stall-#1 center we've needed badly for years is playing out of his mind. Leads team in goals and game winning goals. Don't think anyone would have guessed he'd be playing this well. (And for cheap)

Koivu-old #1 center is playing in a spot he should be in and its helping tremendously. He's a beast on face offs, playing good defense and it seems to be helping him insert jauques Lemaire voice here "score some goals"

Bruce-crossing the fingers he doesn't take us to any game 7's but the way the team looks this year compared to last I think the players are listening/respect him more so than yeo and it's showing. (Not losing back to backs, coming back from behind , scoring goals when needed and playing really good d)

oh yea and duuuuuub, although he's kinda fallen off the last few games I really like our chances with him in net. He's good enough to steal a couple and that helps out with hopefully a nice long playoff run. (Hopefully)

Go Wild!

Wow, thank you for your insight.

Do you 'have a point of view' to share?

I heard it said that the Wild are in the midst of their midseason slump.  The difference this year is that are still winning during the slump.

Not sure if this is a sarcastic question to my long rambling but unfortunately I haven't been able to watch many games this year due to not having tv. I listen to almost every game via the fan. As a hockey rube all my existence I just like what this team is compromised of vs old teams. So far it feels similar to 03' where we didn't have that one go to guy (maybe gaborik) but rather 3-4 good lines that knew what there job was. Good coaching, the defense was solid and goaltending although we had two guys back then was a strength. With that being said if dubnyk gets hurt watch out because keumper isn't bringing us anywhere.

And while I'm commenting, do I think if the wild will win it all this year?  If they can get past the Blackhawks then anything can happen. Obviously a lot of things have to go right and it's not even February but I like what's happening so far this year.

They certainly have a chance.  Too many years of being a Viking fan have left me conditioned not to be too optimistic.

I'm with "Hardcore" on this one. . . if DUUUUUUUUUUBS goes down, so do the Wild. It's early but we have never looked this good for such a long period of time. Avoid the Hawks in the first round and I like our chances if the team is healthy. . . .

And I'm also with BringAnExtension on his last point. . . . Wide left is all I need to say. . . .

@hardcore365, No, not sarcastic at all. The second sentence was meant for anyone viewing the post. It does look like it could be sarcastic tho.... LOL

Any predictions for the next game?

I figured it wasn't, but was just reading it thinking it might be. Dang computers need a tone feature of some sort... It's 3-1 now at the end of the second. I think they will close with two more in the third, one empty net, win 5-2.

Go wild!

I think we destroy St. Louis.

5-1 I'd say that was a good call. Now into the All-star break with the best record they have ever had. Man this is fun.

The good thing is they all have a bye at the same time :)

Well so far so good! 4-2 Wild going into the second intermission. Goals by Zucker, Parise, and two by something called a Graovac. Edmonton went into the break playing pretty good hockey so this would be a nice start to the Canada trip if they can get the first one. Go Wild!

Nice game last night.  Both teams were buzzing the first 2 periods.

Our goalie was once again better, great game by Keumper.

This team just keeps rolling, i am not used to this kind of success.  I sure hope this can continue into June.

Only one team in the NHL with more points :)

Well I guess they were due for a stinker. . . . officiating not the best but they were lacking the same "jump" as the night before. A little of the "puck luck" went against them as well. Need to come back with a strong showing Saturday!

Different team last night, for sure.

Passes just didnt stick to stick all night.

At least we could afford one of these games.

Back to backs on the road late can be tough to get that extra energy level up for.

I'm enjoying a Wild season finally :)

Nice bounce back win last night.  Nice to Granlund get his first hat trick.

Still think Dubnyk isnt quite right.  He didnt play bad, just seems alittle slow in his reactions lately.

Should we play Keumper (he is good enough to keep us in games) more the second half, or does Dubnyk just need to play through any issues he may have?

(I believe a off Dubnyk is still better than an average Keumper)

I hunt in the rifle zone so I don't have a need to use a shotgun to hunt deer, but I would be looking at this if there was ever a need to.   There could be state legislation introduced next summer that eliminates the shotgun zone completely.  It has bipartisan support.  Wisconsin removed theirs years ago and MN is usually later to follow.  They've tried to pass it more than once and it came up just short both times.  Probably just a matter of time.

      Screw that, here's whatch need!  😆   Power-Shok Rifled Slug 10 Gauge 766 Grain Grain Weight: 766 Shotshell Length: 3-1/2in / 89mm Muzzle Velocity: 1280
    • Wanderer
20 ga has become a real popular deer round in the last 5 or so years.  The rifled barrels are zinging those sabot slugs with rifle like accuracy out to 100 yards easily.  Some go so far as dialing in for a 200 yard shot but really, by 150 they’re falling off pretty low.   I have a single shot Ultraslug in 20 ga that shoots really well at 100 yards.  Most everyone I know that has bought a slug gun lately has gotten the Savage 220 in 20ga.  Problem can be finding the shells you want.
    • leech~~
My son always bugs me about getting a nice light over-under 20ga for grouse hunting.  I say Heck no, I'm getting a 3 1/2" 10ga so I can put as much lead in the air that I can!!     So, I'm keeping my 12ga.
    • 11-87
That’s almost exactly what I was thinking.  Have slug barrels for both   One for turkey and one for deer.      I have a 20ga mosseberg as well. (Combo came with the scope but never used.   I always liked the 12 better
    • leech~~
Wanderer is right on the money and covered it well.  I was wondering too if you had a slug barrel for one of your guns?  If so you could make that your slug gun with a scope, and the other your turkey gun with the Red dot.  As you can afford it.
    • Wanderer
Kinda depends on if you want magnification or quick target acquisition.   More magnification options and better accuracy with a scope.  You get what you pay for too so get comfortable with a budget for one.  Tasco and Bushnell work but I find they lose their zero easier, have low contrast and don’t gather light well in low light conditions.  That said, I’m still using one I haven’t replaced yet.  Vortex has been the hot brand for the past several years for bang for the buck.  Good products.  Nothing beats Swarovski though.  Huge dough for those.  Burris is another decent option.   There are some specific models for shotgun/slug hunting in the economy brands and bullet drop compensation (BDC) reticles.  Based on experience I’d recommend not falling for that marketing ploy.   Red dots are usually lower magnification and easier to get on target.  Reasonably accurate but don’t do well with definition, like searching the brush for your target.  I put a HAWKE red dot on a .22 for squirrels and it’s been good.  For turkey, that’s probably the route I’d go.     If your slug shots are normally not too far and too brushy, I’d think a red dot could work there too if you’re only buying 1 scope.  You’ll be better off dimming the reticle to the lowest setting you can easily use to not over shine the target and get a finer aim point.   If you don’t have a slug barrel, you might appreciate one of those.  I had a browning with a smoothbore slug barrel that shot Brenneke 2-3/4 inch well.  The 11-87 would well fitted with a cantelever rifled barrel.

Looking for recommendations on scope or red dot    I basically hunt turkey and whitetail, live in southern MN. So it’s all deer/ shotgun    looking to add a scope/ red dot as my eyes don’t work like they used to to with the open sights.    my gun options are 11/87 12. Browning BPS 12    not looking for the most expensive or the cheapest    pros and cons of one over the other

That's good news. I haven't seen any ice in Black Bay yet, but it looks like the small bays should start to freeze up this weekend. Hopefully we make some ice next week.   Below is the forecast for Cook. We should have temps mostly below zero . The bottom section below shows that it should not be windy, and no snow is predicted. All good signs for making ice.
