Hey everyone, planning on staying on middle Cullen end of February beginning of march I've never fished it before I've fished lower but not upper. Does anyone fish out there? Looking at targeting crappies, gills and walleyes. Hopefully going to have the snowmobile and flip over along. Thanks for the help!

It's been a few years, but I've had some really nice crappie outings on Middle Cullen. There are some nice gills in there, but  they can be hard to find. And I know they pull some nice walleyes out of there.

Good luck !

I was out there once this year, early ice when it was 3.5". I didn't go too far from the access. I fished sunset looking for a crappie or walleye. All I caught was a ton of small perch.

If anyone has any insight on Middle Cullen it'd be greatly appreciated. Just moved to the area and don't live far from the lake.

If you head out let us know how you do.

My buddy has a cabin on Lower Cullen that we are heading to late Jan. We've fished in the summer but not on ice.

I've always had the best crappie fishing in Middle Cullen in any of the deep basins, one in the west end that bottoms out about 43', the one in the middle of the lake at 45', and the one on the east end at 41'. I suspect by the time the end of Jan. rolls around, you will be able to see pretty well where the community spots are. There will always be a few houses in each of those holes. On Lower Cullen, the crappie bite is generally along the deep water on the north end, 35' +

Good Luck.

Almost needed the extension on the augur, was right to the power head. No walleye but sent my buddy home with 10 bluegills. Could drive everywhere in 4 wheel drive just had to avoid the drifts

What a difference a day makes.  Fishing was very slow today.  Biggest I caught was only 13 inches.  Marked a lot of fish but couldn't get very many to bite.   The wind was very strong today and did cause a little bit of drifting, but travel is still good on the latke.  Just avoid the snow banks and drifts.  Saw one house get pulled off the lake, and didn't see any new houses come out before I left the lake at 4pm.  Lots of snowmobiles and trailers in Tower.  At least the city and lake will be busy with those.   Good luck fishing if you go out the last weekend of the winter season.

Ice condition didn't change much in the last week as shown in the McKinley Park photo from today.  The holes in my house froze all the way down in the last six days; 40 inches of ice now.  I drilled my two holes 24 inches and cleared the shavings out before reaching water.  Much cleaner way in a permanent house.   Fishing was pretty good today.  Caught two 24" walleyes, including the 5#-7oz fatty pictured.  Also caught a 19 incher.  Best bite was from 11 to noon.  Much better action with chubs than shiners today.  Never tried the pike suckers I had.   Good luck fishing the last weekend this winter.  Going to be very windy Friday, but drifting shouldn't b a problem since there is no loose snow on the lake.  Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm.  Still about 35 houses left out from McKinley Park.
