Caseih: Not sure if you're looking to rent a wheelhouse to pull around ?  or just to fish in out of a resort ?  Hunter Winfield's in Isle Bay has very nice wheelhouses for rent on the lake. Check out their web site.

Otherwise there are lots of good rentals on the lake, with some very nice houses. KJ''s,  Lyback's, McQuoid's, Fisherman's Wharf, Appledorn's, Hunters Point. That's just a few on the south and east end.

Good luck

I rented a wheel house from Hunter Winfield's for the upcoming MLK weekend.  I have never rented one before, let alone up there; but I can report back on my experience.  They have been very nice to work with so far.

My Dad and I have a sleeper rented out of Twin Pines Resort for Saturday night. Running portables during the day time hours. Hopefully the bite keeps up!

Anyone know if there are any resorts that will rent a small sleeper for only one night? My wife and I may head up on Saturday afternoon. Dont need a large house with bells and whistles. Most sites look like they rent by the weekend.

Just search: Ice House rentals on Mille Lacs. Not sure what side of the lake you want to go on, but there are a dozen or so great options, and somebody will let you have a house for one night.

Lybacks, Brandts, Appledorn's, KJ's, McQuoid's, Hunter Winfields, Scenic Bay, Hunters Point, Twin Pines, etc.

There are plenty of options, and they will work with you.

Hope you get out and have a good time.

Hunters was fine, good people.  Fishing wasnt good, caught 8 walleyes in 2 days fri/sat.   4 were 22 & 24 inches.

Didnt really sound like anyone was doing great by ISLE...  Twin Peaks sounded better.

What a difference a day makes.  Fishing was very slow today.  Biggest I caught was only 13 inches.  Marked a lot of fish but couldn't get very many to bite.   The wind was very strong today and did cause a little bit of drifting, but travel is still good on the latke.  Just avoid the snow banks and drifts.  Saw one house get pulled off the lake, and didn't see any new houses come out before I left the lake at 4pm.  Lots of snowmobiles and trailers in Tower.  At least the city and lake will be busy with those.   Good luck fishing if you go out the last weekend of the winter season.

Ice condition didn't change much in the last week as shown in the McKinley Park photo from today.  The holes in my house froze all the way down in the last six days; 40 inches of ice now.  I drilled my two holes 24 inches and cleared the shavings out before reaching water.  Much cleaner way in a permanent house.   Fishing was pretty good today.  Caught two 24" walleyes, including the 5#-7oz fatty pictured.  Also caught a 19 incher.  Best bite was from 11 to noon.  Much better action with chubs than shiners today.  Never tried the pike suckers I had.   Good luck fishing the last weekend this winter.  Going to be very windy Friday, but drifting shouldn't b a problem since there is no loose snow on the lake.  Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm.  Still about 35 houses left out from McKinley Park.

Too bad she’s after big game when she leaves home.  Your one eyed trouser trout might not lure her in. 😉
