Trouble with rattles falling off buck shot rattles?

Recommended Posts

I use buckshots a lot. Last winter I had 2 rattles fall off of my buckshot rattles. Was wondering if anyone else had this problem? IMG_0663.JPG

Can't say I have, but I don't rely on them heavily. How are you storing your lures?

Store mine the same. Maybe you just catch more fish than me ;)

I suppose if they were really getting shaken up in a sled or something that might break loose the adhesive. I was using a foam jig book a few years back. Not the greatest as far as longevity, but probably easier on lures.

Lost one buckshot last winter. Have tackle box like the one in the picture. Have cut pieces for padding the lures.

Those two that broke i did catch quite a few fish on so they might just fall off over time I guess.

Last winter I had it happen as well

I've only had it happen once with the Clam version of that spoon. That open area catches water, and now the spoon has an unusual/erratic action and probably catches fish better than before!

Same here!

I have had quite a few rattles fall off! Easy to fix with a little epoxy glue.

Looks like those lures have seen considerable action. Also, take care not to grab them with hemostats, pliers, etc. when removing them from a fish, that will take a toll in a hurry.

Yeah I caught quite a few fish on those.

X2-epoxy. It's common for all brands, especially the ones not epoxied and painted over. The better brands like Lindy use clear over them, Northland does take some shortcuts on occasion.

What a difference a day makes.  Fishing was very slow today.  Biggest I caught was only 13 inches.  Marked a lot of fish but couldn't get very many to bite.   The wind was very strong today and did cause a little bit of drifting, but travel is still good on the latke.  Just avoid the snow banks and drifts.  Saw one house get pulled off the lake, and didn't see any new houses come out before I left the lake at 4pm.  Lots of snowmobiles and trailers in Tower.  At least the city and lake will be busy with those.   Good luck fishing if you go out the last weekend of the winter season.

Ice condition didn't change much in the last week as shown in the McKinley Park photo from today.  The holes in my house froze all the way down in the last six days; 40 inches of ice now.  I drilled my two holes 24 inches and cleared the shavings out before reaching water.  Much cleaner way in a permanent house.   Fishing was pretty good today.  Caught two 24" walleyes, including the 5#-7oz fatty pictured.  Also caught a 19 incher.  Best bite was from 11 to noon.  Much better action with chubs than shiners today.  Never tried the pike suckers I had.   Good luck fishing the last weekend this winter.  Going to be very windy Friday, but drifting shouldn't b a problem since there is no loose snow on the lake.  Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm.  Still about 35 houses left out from McKinley Park.
