Just saw the news on Channel 9 and they showed a truck that went through the ice on Sunday!  They said it was only 5"  thick.  Bummer!

Can't fix stupid.

I see it happen all the time. There was only 3" of ice when the snow came at my place. But as soon as there was snow on the ice there were sleds on it. People instantly think that frozen and snow covered means it's safe.

How can you be that stupid to drive a truck out on 5"!!

I walked out onto White Bear this afternoon to check the ice.  Drilled a hole about 100 yards from the VFW and measured 9 inches with a measuring tape.

I'm thinking of checking out WB or Bald Eagle this Friday but I'll have to walk out. Where's the best place to launch from?

Saw another post that another person went down in WB

Was out of Bellaire last night and there were guys parked on the ice and there was water gushing up through a crack in the ice. I found about 6" of ice out where everyone was. I can park on shore or in the lot and wait another week or two to park on the ice instead of having my truck fished out of the lake.

I would still like to know where the first truck went through on Sunday. I talked to the guy at Blue Ribbon off 96 and he did't know.

Any one know which access they went through on Sunday?
