I am starting to use more plastics for fun but red spikes are still my favorite under a small K & E tackle skandia tungsten moon jig for gills. 3 or 4 different colors. Like other jigs also but these are my favorite. Dont really have a favorite for crappies yet.

If you are just targeting crappies the middle sized pug bug and 1 inch maki mino is killer. I use the small pug bug and pinch some of body off the maki mino if gills are around. I did get some big pug bugs for xl maki mino.

Anything small and tungsten with a little plastic on it does the trick for me. Especially these...

I am liking the 14's also. they work good with the light spring bobbers I use. those are almost identical to the jig I like.
