Drill ?

Ok, another rookie ?  Got the 600 pound drill and there are 3 settings. Hammer, Screw and drill.  Use the screw setting?

Assuming you are asking because you are using with an ice auger.  Set it to drill and the low speed.

I knew low speed but thought maybe the driver (screw) setting.  So whats the diff between drill and drive? Thanks.

want to do it right first time and every time silly. used the cheap drill yesturday and it was slick city.  now get back in yer kennel !

The drive setting uses the clutch.

Thats what I was thinking so I thought it would be good to have it set on 24 just in case it hangs up at the bottom.

 Select "Drill".

Drive set at 24 is probably going to ratchet.

If you aren't using a drill plate or some other mount be sure to use the safety handle on the drill, you do need to hang on but that drill won't kill you. That 1200# Milwaukee will kill you though, mine has gotten the best of me a couple times already, I'm a slow learner.

really, tired of carrying a sledge and scaring the fish away as I smash ice
