W rush and forest lake both have 3-4" on the 10-15yrds out. Locked up solid should be good for walking by next weekend. At the bait shop got confirmation one resort (can't remember which one) letting people on the ice as of today up on red lake. It's so close its hard to wait.

Went to a small shallow lake in Savage on 12/16/2016. 5" most spots a few spots seemed to be a bit thinner (possibly aeration or a spring). Got a few crappies, a few bluegill (small), and a largemouth.

Middle and Lower Twin were capped at least a week or 2 ago and I was going to check ice this weekend.  I've heard you don't want to eat anything out of those lakes though.  Does anyone know if this is true or not?  Something about an old factory used to leak creosote into the water?

I was out on White Bear on Saturday and there was 5-6 in and about 10 other portables out there with me.  Fishing was slow though.

Check the DNR fish advisory.  I'm assuming you're wondering about the twin lakes in Robbinsdale?

The only creosote plant I remember in that area was in St. Louis Park.  Long time gone though...  For that area I think I'd be more concerned about the fertilizer content and road run off.

We used to fish those lakes a lot when we were kids.  Lots of memories there.

In other news - from Brainerd to Bismarck the lake that had the most houses on it was Crow Wing just south of Brainerd.  Probably a dozen between perms and porties left out.

A couple lakes in ND had 1 or 2 out with one guy having his Avalanche parked next to his perm.

I only saw one perm on Osakis but surely didn't see all of the lake.  Very limited for houses or fishers out there or even tracks, old holes, etc.  I realize this was over Mon - Tues but I expected to see more.

I walked out on White Bear Lake this afternoon just to check the ice.  Drilled a hole about 100 yards out from the VFW and measured 9 inches of ice with measuring tape.  There were about 8 guys out there.

Raven77,

Sorry I did not get back to you sooner!

Very good bite on Vermilion right now!

Pike suckers on dead sticks and crappie minnows on jigging spoons are both getting hit hard when the bite is on!

Got these a few days ago! Released the 28 incher.
