The Grand Rapids Decoy Show is this Saturday 11/26/16 at the sawmill inn.

Proceeds of the show support the local chapter of the MDAA up there. It's a great way to start off the spearing season. It's the start of the Christmas rush too, so keep your spear fishing family members in mind.

I will be in the Grumpy Decoys booth. There are 25-30 decoy carvers and multiple other vendors at the show. Stop by if your in the area. Maybe add to your collection. Or bring a kid or new spear fisherman and start the addiction.

The last few decoys run through for the weekend. Nothing special, but they will swim and pull fish.

Before you ask MJ, I pulled some resource materials and have started to work up a new bullhead pattern. You will be able to run it through its paces before it goes into the file for future production. But it will be a while yet before it's ready.

Sunfish are one of my favorites.  Most people won't make them because they are hard to get to swim right. In a lot of lakes the only naturally occurring and most abundant forage fish are sunfish. Match the hatch and watch them get obliterated.

Because teeth marks in a spearing decoy are like shot scars on a duck decoy. They make them better.
