Good Luck to all area hunters as firearm season starts.  Be safe out there.  Maybe after a successful hunt, you'll share a pic of your trophy with the rest of us.

I'll post mine when I get back from the woods.

Good luck to you as well

Walked to my stand at 6:45.  The ground was covered in frost.   Climbed in and went through the ritual of opening up the back pack to make quiet and easy access to my goodies.  Grunt call, doe bleat, rattling antlers, binoculars, and the stash Halloween candy.   Then loaded the Ruger,  sat back, and got comfortable with my hunting blanket.

At 7AM I flipped my view over to the sound of a Ruffed Grouse fly up and into a Birch.   Not long after its friend joined him.  Its just one of those things in Nature you get to see when your silent & still in the stand.   My attention turned from watching the Grouse to a doe & fawn for 20 minutes till something to our East spooked her and off they went.   Whatever it was I could hear moving through.  Shouldn't be any other hunter there, maybe a Buck?   The Grouse I forgot about flew from the Birch.  Shortly after,  one of the forks I've been seeing during scouting came in and my hunt was over at 8:15 Sat morning.  Didn't need any of the goodies in the back pack, not even a candy bar.    I was alone and really the pics taken aren't anything special and composed even worse.

Its back to getting ready for winter.  Garlic to plant, leaves to rake, and so forth. Too bad the boats are put away though as this weather is better then Summer.

As a group we have seen a spike a small 7 two does and my brother shot the broke tine 8. Which is the third largest we had on camera. There is a bigger 8 and a big one with 13 or 14 points but those deer have not been seen.

I have to say this year was some of the best napping weather I've had in the stand in a while.  :D  My sister's boy friend got his buck, a 4 point with one 3 point side and one single point drop tine on the other, on opening morning at 8:30 AM.  I got my 6-pointer on Sunday morning at 8:30 AM.  We saw more deer this year than in the previous 3, even with the warm temperatures. Really wish my 14 year old nephew had  a shot at the 4 does he saw, but they were just too far down the lane for him to make the attempt. Two more tags to fill next week.  Continued success to the rest of you. Be safe.

Well my uncle who hunts all day decided this buck was the one to eat. He normally gets the big buck but this year he has the littlest buck.

Went out at 3 and this guy walked by at 430. Broadside at 50 yards. It was fun watching him tip over after a short run. :)

Always nice to get one a little bigger then the new son-in-laws. To keep up the cool father-in-law deal going.

Last weekend my cousin saw one doe. My cousins, friend, and uncle will be hunting. I hope this weather gets some bucks moving for them!

My cousins uncle and friend are up on the  shore hunting now. My friend sat most of yesterday in the wind and snow and saw nothing. Today should be better for him.

My cousin was hunting in the state park and took a big doe. That was the only deer they saw during shooting hours.

Sat night

Saw one come out of the swamp but then lost it behind some trees it never made its way to me before shooting hours. Should of sat in my ladder stand it would of been a easy 100 yard shot.

Today I decided to watch the Vikings and relax.. neighbor sat in my ladder stand and shot a button buck, He is giving it to me since I gave him the doe. Talk about tender cant wait!
