Cool Nights

Shieldsville experienced its first night in the 30s and tonight is experience to be even cooler.  I am looking forward to getting out on a lake and seeing if a couple of cool nights has an impact on fishing.  We had another 2 inches of rain this week and water flowing into the lakes might be keeping fish shallow.

With little wind in the forecast, my preferred method of jigging is probably not going to be possible.  I am going to have to come up with something else to try.

The cool nights definitely had an effect on the lakes.  Water temperature has dropped to 58 degrees, a full 10 degree drop from when I measured it 2 weeks. 

With some northerly winds, I think it also impacted my fishing.  I didn't catch a thing this weekend.  I tried trolling and drifting without luck.  I did have quite a few large marks in 25 to 30 feet of water where shallow bars were nearby.  However, nothing I threw at them could entice them to bite.  I tried a lot of my ice fishing gear that I knew I could get down to those depths, rippin raps, jigging raps and buck shots, but nothing got their attention.

Oh well, there is always next weekend.
