Hey! Going up to Duluth next weekend and was just wondering if  you can catch anything shore fishing on the north or south piers probably nothing but figured I ask. Thanks!

A wet line always has a chance to catch fish. I've caught steelhead from shore between Duluth and Two Harbors at various creek mouths throughout the month of October.

Thanks! Is casting a spoon or something off the south pier something to try I would doubt there's anything in that area but I guess you don't know till you try?

There is also an old railroad bridge on the St. Louis river that was converted into a fishing pier.  It is on the Duluth side of the river under I believe the Blatnik bridge.  I have caught a lot of walleye from that pier over the years and have had muskies on but not landed.

Just wanted to chime in about another option if the bbig lake is too rough for casting.

Sounds like a good spot I might have to try that! I know it's a long shot but possible to catch a walleye of the piers right?

I suppose there is a chance! I know friends used to fish the piers in Duluth in the spring for salmon and do ok but not sure about the fall.  the pier I mentioned earlier was good for a few eyes and is off of Garfield Ave.

Lake Trout is closed but there should be salmon entering or staging off the river mouths.

Thanks for the help everyone. So what kind of gear should be used this time of year what kind of lure/ presentation? What kind of line? I picked up some new bait casters and would like to try them could I use them out there or is spinning gear recommended?

Speaking only for myself, I get the biggest bang for the buck from TNT.
