Wide awake!!! So excited I am for Finn's first duck opener!!! He is snoring like a chain saw.  I will post from the field

No internet in the field today. Had a group sky busting keeping birds out of anyone's range. Riverrat and I got buzzed by teal a few time and a pair of woodies scooted through. Should have had a shoveler and some woodies. The bugs were so bad I lost 4 pints of blood. 

Now to the fun parts Finn was jumping woodcock son the fields on our way out. Finn did good but does not like no action. After leaving the refuge I checked my dads pond. O yeah there was a woodie sitting on the log bang!! Now finn needs to do his job.

Finn did good he got it and brought it back to me!! Way to go Finn.

First off I am not a waterfowl hunter, so this info is second hand.

Here in the Morrison/E.Todd cty area, the hunt really seemed slow considering the weather conditions.  Although a few birds were shot early in morning the day seemed slow by most accounts around here.

Well Zach I should had two geese but missed. I did get a wood duck. I had a flock 4 screaming wood duck coming in and Finn got to excited and jumped out into the pond. Scaring the woodies away but I was glad to see he got so excited.

I did @MJ1657 he is by no means perfect but he likes to get ducks. When I hit one.

Today was a bad shooting day for me. Had 3 flocks of woodies locked up in front of me and got none. Had big ole green head decide the pond is good place to try and land and I missed. Shot at some teal and a shoveler yep Finn was waiting for splash and not from my wads. I packed up and when got to the truck I know some woodies landed in the pond. But let them be.

Not around here yet, Lakes are starting to freeze up in Canada and they got some snow too. Northern birds should show up soon but really the migration flyway has shifted there is only going to be a small window of really good migration through central MN.

Well I was going duck hunting this morning but after two spin outs yesterday I am staying in bed. I might head out for evening hunt.

Did not get out duck hunting as my dad was bow hunting. He jumped 10 or so mallards off his pond. When I went out around 7 to try and call a yote in the pond was locked up with ice
