Hi all-

I hunted squirrels a lot when I was younger, but have not done so in years.  Now my son is ready to start hunting, and has been shooting all summer.  I'd like to get him started on squirrels this fall.  We moved to Duluth a couple of years ago, and I am wondering if anyone has tips on public land in the area with a decent population to hunt.  Or, I suppose if anyone wants some taken off their land, I would be happy to oblige that as well. ;)

Looking at Google Earth of the closest WMA's they don't appear to be very heavily wooded.

Thanks in advance!

Your best squirrel hunting will be in the areas with the most oak trees, and those are kinda scarce up north. I'd target areas to the south like Pine county.

Agreed.  Just hoping to find something viable that is closer. With an 8 year old, I prefer not to have to make a full day of it.

Thanks!
