A dedication ceremony will take place at the Roseau River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Roseau County in northern Minnesota to honor youth members of the Minnesota Ducks Unlimited (DU) Legacy Greenwing program.

The dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, will include remarks from Minnesota Department of Natural Resources staff and Minnesota DU representatives, a presentation on the partnership and history of the waterfowl habitat projects undertaken by Ducks Unlimited and the DNR on the wildlife management area, and the unveiling of the plaque with the engraved names of DU Legacy Greenwing youth members from northern Minnesota.

The plaque will remain on display at the WMA in honor of the commitment these northern Minnesota DU youth members have made to waterfowl habitat restoration and conservation.

“The DNR is pleased to be chosen by Ducks Unlimited as the site honoring their Legacy Greenwings,” said Randy Prachar, Roseau River WMA wildlife supervisor. “We thank DU, and especially the youth who have participated in the Greenwing program, for their continued dedication to waterfowl hunting and wetland conservation.”

The Legacy Greenwing program is for youth 17 years old and younger. The program provides youth with opportunities to gain an appreciation for waterfowl conservation and hunting.

The event will occur at the main dike road gate on the Roseau River WMA, which is located 1.5 miles south of the WMA headquarters along Roseau County Highway 3. The WMA is located 20 miles northwest of the city of Roseau.
