Heading up next week for a couple of days, again bringing up some new fisherman. Anyone know some local lakes for walleyes or good perch? We can usually have no problem with the smallies, just looking to catch some other species. We don't usually keep anything, just like to get them out and have a good time. We have been going to deviltrack, unsuccessfully, and Caribou with lots of success for smallies. Do you usually troll cranks or just slow troll with leeches? We have been finding that the smallies like mr twisters on the shorelines and crankbaits casting in towards the weeds and shorelines. Every now and then we hook up with a walleye, but would like to actually try targeting them this year.

Strange to hear you haven't been doing good on devil track. That lake is loaded with walleyes! Crescent lake is usually a guarantee for 'eyes. Trolling orange crank baits in the evening is productive, and don't be surprised to catch a muskie or 2. There's so much structure on the lake, but the north arm across the lake seems to be a popular area wit anglers. I've done just fine in the arm closest to the launch though.
