My son (3 yo) has just starting really showing an interest in fishing (yeehaw!), so we have been out a couple times without much success. I tried the westwood DNR FiN pond, and there wasn't much of a bite when we went, but it was a really nice spot so I'm sure we will try again. I'm just looking for any tips on spots where I can go and catch some decent quantity of sunnies, size doesn't matter. Preferably from shore for now, but if there is a hot spot that requires a boat I do have access to a fishing boat. Thanks in advance, I'm so excited to be sharing this sport with him!

Most of the sunnies I've seen lately are in the pads or off the weedline in nice size schools.  Best bet is a boat and use the trolling motor around the weedline until you find a school. Waxies seem to work all year.  Good luck.

I was out volunteering with kids at Bryant Lake last week.  Plenty of sunnies at the dock.  Just used cut up night crawlers.  They are there.  Not much for size but it was non-stop action.

Head to Schulze lake in Lebanon Hills. They have fishing equipment you can rent with your drivers license for free, they also sell bait. Or just bring a can of corn. Next to the swimming area just cast out a couple of feet. You will catch a sunny with every cast, they are not big, but they are in big numbers. That is usually where I recommend bringing little ones to keep them catching, and prevent boredom. Smaller hooks will help you hook up more and prevent bait loss.
