Bony:

Are you coming up to the Lake this year?  I just received my leeches, and they are better than the past years (IMO).  Just reminding you if you want to order some for your trip.

Hello AWarrior!

Yes, we will be up for two weeks again!  I have looked at the leech site and am tempted.  Think I could have them sent to the resort without hurting the owner's feelings?  Otherwise, I have to drive with them in the car from the Twin Cities...........and my wife may worry about spilling.........

Can't wait.

I would have them shipped to you at the resort.  Tracy and the Gang would not mind.  Put your cabin on the mailing address. You can order them one day, and they will be delivered the next.  I remember a few years back someone that was staying 2 weeks had a battery charger shipped up.

Driving with them in the car will not hurt your wife--they are in a plastic bag, in a cooler.  My wife even lets me bring them from here, and it is about 7 hours in the vehicle(once they are in no one thinks of them).   With a little ice they make the trip very well.  I have never lost any

We are up a week early this year due to graduations--will be able to tell you where not to fish by the time you get there.  Hope to see you!!

We start June 11th this year.  Are you a week earlier?  If so, have a great time.  We will probably pass you  between the resort and the Twin Cities as you are leaving.

Zenny: I'll get a batch then.....You can pay me in beers or tequila!

A Warrior: Our first week starts June 3rd.  I think this is the same week your crew is up there?

Uncle Boney:

We will be up on the 10th (a week later this year)

If you want, I can bring leeches up for your second week.

Sounds like you have a great deal--payment in beer or tequila--oh boy--that is why they invented the 5 gallon pail !

See you up there.  Looking forward to all of your fishing tales. Fishing has to be better this year.

My sisters and their family will be up on the 10th to join us (Zenny is my brother-in-law), staying in Moose.  We should be okay on leeches; last year the one leech order lasted two weeks.

I am sure we will be well prepared to tell you where the fish are not after our first week (I stole that line from you).  Yes, hoping for a more productive year and more walleyes in the pan.

If you can tell me where the fish are not--that will help.  I will fish where you have not been fishing.(ha)  That must be where they are--everywhere you and I do not fish.

Ice is out already which is good.  I hope the trip will be more rewarding this year--looking forward to it already.  I changed the line on one of my rods last night!!

I haven't changed the lines yet, but I do have an order of fireline and leaders coming from Cabela's............

Sounds like a fair deal Boney, booze for bait works for me. i am starting to prep the boat and gear, too. cant wait.

What a difference a day makes.  Fishing was very slow today.  Biggest I caught was only 13 inches.  Marked a lot of fish but couldn't get very many to bite.   The wind was very strong today and did cause a little bit of drifting, but travel is still good on the latke.  Just avoid the snow banks and drifts.  Saw one house get pulled off the lake, and didn't see any new houses come out before I left the lake at 4pm.  Lots of snowmobiles and trailers in Tower.  At least the city and lake will be busy with those.   Good luck fishing if you go out the last weekend of the winter season.

Ice condition didn't change much in the last week as shown in the McKinley Park photo from today.  The holes in my house froze all the way down in the last six days; 40 inches of ice now.  I drilled my two holes 24 inches and cleared the shavings out before reaching water.  Much cleaner way in a permanent house.   Fishing was pretty good today.  Caught two 24" walleyes, including the 5#-7oz fatty pictured.  Also caught a 19 incher.  Best bite was from 11 to noon.  Much better action with chubs than shiners today.  Never tried the pike suckers I had.   Good luck fishing the last weekend this winter.  Going to be very windy Friday, but drifting shouldn't b a problem since there is no loose snow on the lake.  Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm.  Still about 35 houses left out from McKinley Park.

Too bad she’s after big game when she leaves home.  Your one eyed trouser trout might not lure her in. 😉
