Hey gang

I have not been on the water lately after moving, having kid, fixing house.     basically life.  lol

I am taking father in law out this opener and shaminaw and alexander are the lakes that are closest to our house.

I fished sham a long time and did pretty good at night slip bobbers  mid summer.

Basically if anyone want to share any tips for early season eye's for sham and axles I would really appreciate it.   depths, tec that work there.      PM   me.

Can trade tip for tips around brainerd  (panfish and some eye tips)

thx

I can not help with shaminau, I can't catch a cold on that lake!

On Alex, of course low light periods will be best.  I prefer to fish the humps and sharp break lines around the islands early in the year. Medium to large shiner minnow or medium redtails (tough to find early in the year, but work get if you do) jigged or lindy rigged in 20-30 ft around the humps and breaklines.  Leeches work well too, size of fish typically run smaller.

As dusk turns to night, move up to 12-20 ft, and slip bobber the same breaks focus on inside turns that "point" to a shallower flat (if the flat has growing weeds all the better)

Good luck.

Found a few Walleyes last weekend on a dark day (Saturday) and a sunny calm day (Sunday).  22-32 foot depths.  Caught more on the Sunday which is surprising.  Didn't fish until I marked them on sonar...23, 22, 18, 18, 14, 14, 13, 10 without trying to hard.   Fished from 3pm till dark.
