My personal opinion is fishing is better a day or two before a good cold front then takes some time of steady temperature for the fishing to pick back up.  I would like to hear what others think about that?

RICHJ - Only the late Dale Earnhardt could see the ambient air :)

Ive never really thought about it.....It takes so long for water temp to change from weather......Does the barometer affect fishing? Can they hear me swearing in the hub house? Smell my fireball and generic cigs??? LOL!

I agree icepike1. I'm a believer in watching the barometer. Steady or rising pressure is better IMO. A big cold front can turn them off until things stabilize.

Its been my experience that when the pressure goes sky high, the fish get lockjaw.  And when the pressure is dropping (bad weather approaching) they tend to turn on.  They seem to bite during the low pressure as well.

They feel the pressure change , and yes in some cases they can also hear you swearing in the hub house . they hear you through their Lateral lines.  Hope this helps.

Cold fronts can slow a bite down, but if you are willing to work and downsize you can still catch some fish. Also slow down your jigging and small movements can make a big difference. I know it is hard to move around when it is cold but this will help you find the school of fish to give you chance at picking a few off.

Fishing is usually good as the barometer is dropping, especially hours just before it begins to rise. As far as tactics for panfish after a front; I look deeper and look for bottom hugging fish. You almost always need to fish the hole and see what rises. If your marking many thin lines, and just occasional red or orange marks that rise and quickly return to bottom, don't waste your time, tell tale sign of perch. Live bait, downsizing, and slow cadence are other keys to success, during cold fronts.

Once you find some decent risers, hunker down and throw the tackle box at them until you figure out what they want. No need to find anything much more positive; finding out what they want will be more important. After you feel you've narrowed things down on what is working, spread your search grid out.

Just a question- where do you guys get your info about the barometric pressure?- I have checked the weather apps that I have and if it gives the barometric pressure - it doesn't say if it has been stable , going up, or if it is going down. I have always gone with " it being better fishing before a change in the weather"

If I'm at home I check my wireless home weather station. Not only does it show current and past readings, but tending readings, up or down. On the water I monitor a weather radio tuned into the closest reporting location. Updates are only hourly on Nat'l Weather Service radio stations.

WeatherUnderground will show a graph of pressure and temp. Quite handy.
