I'm looking at coming up to the Big V the week of 7/30 through 8/6 this year. I have never been up that time of year before, closest has been three weeks either direction. I've looked at weather history, but don't have any idea about the fishing that time of year. Any help would be appreciated!

Vermilionfox - Probably one of my favorite times of year to be there as far as catching walleyes. Usually 1/2 crawler  on a lindy on the reefs or sometimes trolling raps.  We always take our whole week family vacation at the cabin the 1st week of August. The muskies are usually going pretty good by that time if that is your thing as well.  You can never predict the weather but for the most part the kids & Momma are jumping off the dock pretty much every day the first part of August.

I also like that period of the summer.

Usually decent weather and a good bite on almost all species of fish!

Vermilion has one of the best summer walleye bites available in Minnesota!

I gotta agree,  most of the bug hatches are over and the Walleyes get on well established locations for both Lindy rigging and trolling crankbaits.

Agree with the experts, Fox! We spent 25 years vacationing up there the last week in July. All species well established in predictable spots. At least as predictable as fish can be!
