New Years

Hello all! I am heading to Ruttgers on Lake Bemidji for New Years with my wife, son, and her family for a new family tradition in starting memories instead of a bunch of gifts... I am wondering how the ice is out there? I know these warm temps havnt been the best for ice fishing. Just plan on walking maybe sled if possible... I top of all that none of us have fished the lake is there any places that are to be known for some decent fish? Not asking for "honey holes" just a few general areas we could maybe get on a few crappies or panfish...

Just talked to a friend that put his 6 x 10 out this morning.  He said there was a solid 8 1/2" of clear ice off Cameron Bar(about halfway down the lake from Ruttgers.  You won't be driving out but there is decent fishing a short walk out from Ruttgers.  There is a small hump and really nice break lines not far off shore.
