We head up in 3 weeks, getting an 8 man through an outfit. At what point do we start worrying? Or are we in good ice making mode now?

Rogers Facebook Report

This week the outfitters will start hauling out their big skid houses. Outfitters will transport their guests by truck and trailer to their rented house location. The resort is anticipating that cars, small trucks that are similar to Rangers and small SUVs would be allowed out next weekend. The resort will not be transporting houses out this week or weekend as it stands. If our guests choose to pull houses out with Atvs that would be ok. We currently will not allow guests to pull houses out with trucks. Outfitters will be running trucks this week and testing cracks, if things appear good the vehicle weight restrictions may improve. Currently we have 7-12 with 10 being average. It is anticipated that we will have 10-15 with 13 being the average by the weekend. Currently we feel more comfortable with the lower number on ice measurements.

Where is the easiest place to get a propane fill??

"The resort will not be transporting houses out this week or weekend."

does this mean if we have a smaller size wheel house behind an SUV we cannot have our house pulled out by the folks who have been pulling houses out for the last few days?

That is the way I read it.  My guess is the guys who were pulling houses are now going to need to cater to their own clients now that their houses are out on the ice??

I read one of their little Rangers had some engine problems, so they are down to 1 truck pulling their skid houses around and that's why they suspended pulling out people's houses.  Can't blame them as they make their money on the rentals.

Wetaline, north country store in waskish is where I always fill propane. But I know some of the resorts will as well. I fish outta waskish and I usually need something else from the store anyhow so it's convenient for me.

If everyone stays patient I'm sure we will have drivable ice come next weekend. Yes some of the outfitters will be hauling houses out. But these guys KNOW the ice conditions. They are checking daily and know where to drive and more importantly where not to drive. If the ice is safe for the first mile out then I'd imagine you would be able to drive out to that point. The restrictions are for angler safety. If allowed to drive out there will be a set of restrictions. And I would follow those as they in place for a reason. But Mother Nature will decide how much ice we have and the resorts will decide when it's appropriate to travel

good luck to all!!!
