Found a solid 8-10" on a shallow lake near Marshall. Emphasis on shallow (6') so YMMV. The wind likely aided formation once the lake was capped by blowing snow off. There were a couple wheelers, but we decided to venture on foot.

Could not get the fish to bite on anything (shiner, sucker, fathead, spoons, tungsten with microplastic we tried everything), though this lake historically has a very large FHM population. We hunted pheasant in the morning... Perhaps we will try the morning bite next time.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like the ice season will be just fine in the end, versus how we thought it would be a month ago. Just for my FYI, what is YMMV and FHM? :D
