Walking Out on Upper Red

Coming up to Red on Dec 26th.  No 4 wheeler or snowmobile.  Usually drive out from Hillmans for our annual day after Christmas trip.  Just wondering if walking out is a reasonable option.  We have otter sleds that pull pretty easily assuming there isn't slush or lots of snow.  We do it all the time on metro lakes but obviously the size of Red is a little daunting.  If so, where would you recommend going out of?  Are the resorts on the East or South side closer to "fishable" water?  Any insights would be appreciated.

the south end is a shorter walk to fishable water. Gets deeper quicker by half the distance.

I know there are some resorts that will pull you out on the lake on 4 wheelers/utv's if needed. Not sure what they charge but guessing it's not much more than their access fee.
