So I went out deer hunting this morning with no success came home and my wife and two kids were eating our breakfast at the kitchen table when all of a sudden my daughter screamed and right out our kitchen window was a 6 point buck he saw us through the window and took off to the neighbors but then he decided to walk on to the very in safe ice on the lake we live on he made it out about 100 yards and fell through!! I could not believe what I was watching my kids were almost crying watching this poor animal struggle to survive I got a hold of the DNR and he said there was nothing we can do about it!! It was Mother Nature at work the poor deer struggled for a 1 hour and 10 minutes. My son and I were going to go out deer hunting tonight but we both said after wAtching that we had no desire!! The worst thing is it didn't sink and you can still see it! I said if I could retrieve it I would put my tag on it and call it a season after watching it suffer I feel it deserves to not be wasted but I guess the Eagles will eat good. I wish we would of went to church today and not witnessed it!!

cool to experience to view the darker side of nature but like the dnr guy mentioned it is part of nature.  might not be for the faint of heart but it should be a learning experience for the kids

Too bad you didn't have a way to break a path through the ice so it could work its way out.

That had to be hard to see, especially for the kids.
