This is my first year with a boat and was wondering at what temps to people stop pulling their boats out to fish?

I was thinking about going once or twice in the next week before I winterize and put my boat away in storage. Tomorrow is supposed to be a cold day, but it's the only day I know I can fish for sure.

Temperature does not drive my decision to put the boat into storage, it is when the DNR pulls the docks in my area.  Yes, the two are kind of related, but as long as there is a dock to land my boat I am willing to put extra layers on and go fishing.

Tomorrow, the temperature is low, but there is supposed to be calm winds.  Looks like a great day to go fishing to me!  Just dress warm.

The cold isn't going to hurt your motor as long as you drain that water out when you're done.  Dress for the cold, layers layers layers and get out there and do some fishing!

I fish at least 10 months out of the year. Once the lakes freeze its off to the rivers. Just gotta make sure your livewells are empty and trim your motor down to drain all water out before attaching the transom saver.

As long as there is open water, it's never too cold.

One other thing, I always wear my life jacket this time of year.  That water is cold and there are fewer people around to bail you out if you get into trouble.

ALWAYS wear your life jacket, all year long, no matter what the water temp is. If nothing else, it makes it much easier for the searchers to find your body.

If you start your boat out of the water and kill the engine right away the water pump will purge any water left that could freeze. Just make sure you are prepared to kill the engine right away(or the engine will be killed permanently!) Usually I have one bad outing in Nov. and I am ready to wait for ice fishing.

I fish until I have to break ice at the landing
