Squirrels within reasonable drive

Looking to chase some Squirrels over MEA break with my 12 year old son.  We live in Savage and I don't want to drive all the way down to SE MN.  Are there any WMA's near  us that are worth trying?

If you can get there easily, so can everyone else. Unfortunately I have had poor luck chasing small game anywhere within an hour of the metro. Additionally, all my scariest "hunting accident" moments have occurred in the same situations. It never involved me doing something incorrectly. It was always having another hunter violating one or more hunting laws (blaze orange) or gun safety rules. 

 

I would say there are a handful of places I would go to, but they are pretty tough to get to and usually involve crossing large hills or water.

Thanks powerstroke, I have a buddy that lives south of Red Wing, we are going to chase them there and fish the mississippi in the afternoon..........
