Hunting west of Morris on Saturday, and thought my dad and I might stop at Minnewaska after the morning hunt and do some fishing. Anyone been out there as of late, and what might I expect for a walleye, panfish bite? Probably target panfish during the day, and troll after dark.

I fished for 9 hours on saturday; bite was tough, post cold front + a bug hatch; but managed some nice walleye and gills.  fish seemed really scattered and not really keying in on any one presentation.  drug spinner/crawler around, drifted with a shiner on lindy, casted/trolled raps over the weeds (use a leader if doing this, the pike action has really picked up), worked jig/minnow on steep breaks.  Gills still are pretty active in the weeds, they were biting well past sunset...
Water temps need to cool a little before the good fall bite really takes of in my opinion.

Walleyes were going strong on Saturday in 12-16 fow. Wind blown shorelines using spinner with artificial worm cut at 3". Other boats were pulling in fish too.

I have been out the last 4 weekends. For me the bite has either been dawn/dusk. We do manage to pull some in during the day but it has been tough. I have been fishing like crazy lately with the fishing being some of the best of the year. Best part about it is you dont have to wait at the boat launches. Ive hit alot of the local lakes in the area and the fish have been fairly deep even the panfish. Yesterday was the toughest day I had in awhile saturday was lights out so it can show you how fast things can change. This fall the redtail rigging bite was pretty awesome but once they got hard to come by I started doing the norm jigging fatheads and suckers. Im a big fan of big minnows thats just me but seems especially on waska it helps keep those babies off but not all the time. Either way the fish are biting and dont give up they have been tight lipped at times but those magic hours make it worth the wait.
