Lake Winnibigoshish Fishing Reports

Recommended Posts

Heading up this weekend, hoping for some decent action.  Anybody care to chime in on what colors/presentations have worked/failed?  Greatly appreciated if you do otherwise I'll check back in and let you know how it went.  Going out of High Banks.

Thank you,

-Juice

I suppose I'll go the standard pitching jigs, crawler harness, pulling raps, and slip bobber route.  I'll let you fellas know how it goes.

Juice.....jigs are working some.  A great locator technique now is pulling a spinner and minnow.  Find em and jig em.  Pulling #5 shads in the evening on the west shore has been awesome. Find the shallow weeds and you'll  find fish!  Should hit it about right .... good luck.

Thank for the tips man, any body ever try pulling a spinner bait?  I caught a 25" walleye a few weeks back slow reeling a spinner bait on the weedline in about 10'.

Dr. Juice, let me know how you do, I plan on being on Winnie next Thursday to Sunday.  Staying on the south side, TCroz spends a lot of time on the lake and should know what's happening as far as the bite goes, good luck.

Day 1 provided a few slot fish on minnows, lots of smaller perch but 7 keepers that made it to the cutting board.  Jigs seemed to produce a little better on the perch.  Greens and yellows for color. North shore and the old river channel. Going to try a few other spots tomorrow.

A couple slot fish, couple cleaners and a few nice perch for the table.  Pretty windy out there coming up from the SE.  North end seemed to be the best but we did manage a few off stoney on the south end. Yellow, Green, watermelon, tiger, those seemed to be the best colors.  Caught fish on minnows and worms, one boat we talked to said worms outfished minnows 10:1.  I would load up on both.  Most fish were caught were 10-16', when you locate a clump of weeds work the edges if you can hold to them. Also the old river channel on the northeast end produced a few.  Marked a lot of fish on the end of the break in 24-28' but no takers.  No luck on Raps.  Guys at the resort were getting some slabs on cutfoot, some looked to go in that 13ish range.  Good luck!

Thanks for the info, the last few years that we were up Winnie and wind went hand in hand.  Hope to catch a break and some eyes this time, thanks again.

Made it out to the gap between Winni and Cutfoot on Saturday and had an incredible morning of fishing!  My father and I worked 9-12 fow along well known breaks/weedlines and had an absolute hoot reeling in walleye, northern, and perch.  I boated 10 slot fish before I was able to keep my first fish for the table!  Our biggest eye came in just shy of 25 inches, but we also caught well into the double digits of fish over 20 inches.  Our weapon of choice were jigs and rainbows either drifting or back trolling.  We ended up leaving with our limits, and the last fish we caught was on the very last minnow we had in the bait bucket!  Fortunately for us, the rain stopped just before dawn and the day turned out to be absolutely beautiful.  Also, we heard quite a bit of shooting over in Deer Lake so it seemed as if the duck hunters were having just as much of a "blast" as we were!  Good luck to all who are still putting in time on the water.
