A week in Ely

Coming up for 5-6days next week both my kid. Hoping to find some decent fish during the dog days. Should be a good time. 

Not looking for spots or advice. Just wondering how the water levels are and if the cabbage is still green???? As well as to find out in general how everyone has been doing???

Water levels are low right now. Cabbage is still green.  Fishing varies lake to lake.  People are catching plenty of fish tho.  Fish are starting to show up in their late summer/early fall spots.  18-25fow.  Edges of the basin.  Good luck.

We got out yesterday for a while on Shaggs. Got a late start but weren't in much of a rush. After a long chat with Russ we headed for the lake. This is what we found.....

a vacant landing!!! This is the norm for me when I am slinging the kayak at home, but this is gods country, I was expecting to see people and rigs all over. 

Didnt take long to find what we were after and I was able to check one of the things off the vacation list. Goose brought a nice fat one in the boat for pictures.....  (sorry about the sideways pose) She had a lot of fun. The bite is getting started. Fish were scattered and still out deeper than I would have expected. But we put several on the boat. 

if you have an idea where they will be in late fall patterns and where they were in the summer pattern. Then draw a line or likely travel path. They will be someplace along that line staging up.

Spent much of today on white iron and the chain. Had a great Time out there, put a lot of fish in the boat and had a lot of laughs. Of coarse my phone was in the camper. So everyone who volunteered to get their pictures taken went back in the lake disappointed.
