Does anyone have any info on the Vermilion River this time of year? Particulary around the Gold Mine Resort area where a buddy and I will be staying in late August/early Sept? Never fished it before and was just looking for any pointers/info. Is the river level high/low right now?

Fished out of Gold Mine July 8-11 so I can't speak to your time frame.  It was really hot/still  when we were there and the flies in the boat were brutal.  Thought ahead and brought a can of Raid and that helped.  If you are using camp boats...older but reliable 25 horse Merc tillers.  I brought a transom mount electric with a battery/charger  and was glad I did.  With the current you are constantly positioning the boat.  Fishing was OK for pike and I did catch a big smallmouth.  We didn't spend much time live bait fishing,  mostly casted spoons and spinnerbaits right along the weeds on the river edge.  Make sure you don't forget anything...this camp is remote.  6 miles down a gravel road, the last 4 are pretty much just a logging road.  Cabins were older but fine.  People in camp from Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota.  Hope this helps.

Has anyone been on the river lately? I'm coming up in a week and just wondering how the bite has been and what they might be biting on.
