1st week of June Family vacation / fishing report

Recommended Posts

Ok so we're finishing up our week of fishing here on Leech and will head back to Iowa tomorrow. It was a great time, the lake sure didn't disappoint. Pannies are  in the shallows (we found 64 degree water in some bays) and the walleye's were a bit of a struggle UNTIL we got in contact with a guide (Tom Wilson). I was in a follow boat one day and that was the highlight of the trip. If you can swing it a guide like Tom is sure worth the coin. I really like how Tom not only showed us the current techniques / lures / presentations but more importantly spots to hit in the following days of our vacation.   Anyway we ended up with a 28.5 walleye being the largest of the week and Two members of our family got their personal bests for eyes on this trip as well. The personal bests are still swimming in Leech as we speak. Slow death rigged Berkeley Gulp crawlers worked well for us; especially towards the end of our stay. But Leechs and slip bobbers were our go too each evening. We were unable to get on a good crankbait bite though and while trolling cranks noticed a real lack of pike hookups. While I am hoping to make it back to Leech next year a return in 2017 is probably a more realistic bet. Until then, good luck to you all, Kevin.
