Hello everyone, some guys and I are heading up tot he area for a bachelor party in a few weeks and we will be staying on West Battle. I was checking out the lake and it looks fairly complex, but with lots of great fishing opportunities. I plan on having the boat with. I was wondering if there are any areas to check out or certain methods that tend to work well at this time of year.

We will be up the weekend of June 12-14.

On that note, any place you'd recommend for a few guys to grab a bite to eat. Some of the guys plan on golfing and I plan on hitting the lake for a while.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

The following weekend is the annual Lions club walleye tournament, so you may see a lot of pre-fishing. Sorry, I have not fished it recently, so I dont really have any good tips for you. Lots of structure out there to explore for sure.

Places to eat?

Stubs in Battle Lake is great for steak. Stellas is also great, if you want a little different fare, Elmer's Texas BBQ near Balmoral Golf course can be good too. For breakfast, hard to beat the Shoreline in Battle Lake. Betty's Pantry in Ottertail is also good.

Zorbaz would be a good place to grab a beer and some food. I love their pizza. I'd also agree with some of the other places mentioned.

Can't help with the fishing stuff. I fish a bunch of lakes in the immediate area but not West Battle.

Well, the fishing was tough, but we had a great time. Lots of small pike and bass around. we never got into anything big, but this weekend was about having fun. The weather and the lake were beautiful.

We did have a little excitement when we lost a boat. Not real funny when you're renting the place for the weekend. One of the guys did not raise the boat lift when he came in after dark and the boat floated away sometime during the night. Fortunately we found the boat, but not before it had been reported to the Sheriff. I found the boat ~ 1/2 miles down the shore resting (thank GOD) on a sand beach. I pushed the boat back into open water and she fired right up. No damage, no problems.....except the part about the property owner calling us because he heard from the Sheriff already. Fortunately the boat was already back at the dock and safe and sound. Apparently not the first time that had happened. Oh well.
