Trolling motor issure

Question

Posted

I have a Minn Kota Maxxum 24v and I some how bumped the switch and turned the motor on but the prop was not able to turn because it was against the front of the boat and by the time I noticed it the pedal and the motor were pretty hot.  So now I have wide open or nothing for speed and off doesn't even work.  Am I correct in thinking that I burnt out the variable speed in the control board??

If it is the 5 speed version, you could have burnt out one of the resistors in the bottom part of the motor.  They put them there because it is easier to get rid of the heat under water.

If it is the "digital maximizer" that's different.  It could be in the control board.

I would call it a 9 speed.  10,20,30....90.   Would that be the board in the pedal then?
