Humminbird 787 C2i detail

Was able to finally get my new "to me" boat out and was very happy with my purchase but... a bit unhappy with the detail of the Humminbird 787 C2i that came with it.  The part that I was disappointed with is that it showed WAY LESS detail than my phone with the Navionics download than the actual sonar unit with a Navionics chip in it.  This type of sonar unit is fairly new to me and was expecting a lot more out of it.  I am not sure how old the unit or chip is so I was wondering Is the chip an older model  that doesn't show much detail?  Is it possibly the wrong chip for the model? or what??

I am betting the navonics chip is older.  The map on the phone is updated very often so it has a lot more detail than older chip. It also depends on the lake your using it for.

On a map chip, some lakes are in HD and some aren't but use DNR data from back in the day. 

You should be able to check whether your lake is HD on the chip you have. 

Also, sometimes there is a menu to select the data source on the unit.
