You *know* the crappies are dumb...

....when I can catch them.  I'm usually a fantastically mediocre panfish fisherman, but if they'll bite walleye-sized crankbaits trolled over weeds on the ends of big flats, then I guess I have a chance.  Ended up releasing most fish, but kept a few for my buddy's frying pan.  Hot lures were #4 and #3 Salmo Hornets and #5 Shad raps.  

I had planned to head to Mille Lacs Saturday, but a little bird told me about a nice 'eye bite on a local lake, so I figured I'd save some gas money and stay a bit closer to home.   There was a nice west wind when we started, but unfortunately it died out as the evening progressed.  Maybe that's why the 'eyes didn't cooperate, or maybe they just weren't there. I don't know.

Thanks, guys.  I guess if I'd known there were fish that big in the area, I'd probably spend more time looking for them.
