Anyone having any luck finding morels?

We've found a few but it's been tough so far. Yesterday my wife and I checked half a dozen spots and ended up empty sacked. When we arrived at a new area "off the beaten path" we found out that maybe it wasn't a gem. There was a SUV parked at the gate and we were hoping they were just in the back and not down the trail. Nope, wrong answer. Not too far down the main trail I spotted a guy toting a basket and puffing a pipe or stogie, then another came out from tree on the edge of a thicket. Wifiepoo wanted to chat with them but when they realized they weren't alone they skedattled down the trail. I'd really liked to have checked out the contents of that basket. After talking it over we decided to hit the road and and mosey through one more spot before dark. All in all it was a nice afternoon/evening to be out hunting.

For us the mysterious morel has been totally elusive the past 2 weeks. That doesn't bother us cause we ain't chicken! Speaking of  chicken guess what, we found some super dooper tasty chicken of the woods. After a short 15 minute jaunt 5 lbs are ready to be washed and fried. Wifiepoo is heating up some oil as I type this and soon we'll be snacking, oh yummmm. So if you're a shroomer or just want to give it a whirl there are tons of spots all over the metro and chick is much easier to spot. And oh boy I'll tell ya, wild shrooms are delicious.
