Looking for a little advice...My wife and I (and 2 Labs) are camping on Rainy this weekend on the U.S. side of Voyageurs NP (east of the Narrows). I have never been there this early in the year. Would love to get into some crappies. Not looking for your homey hole, just general locations and presentations. Also, where are the walleyes and smallies generally? They have always been deep on the reefs during previous my stays. Thanks in advance (hopefully).

For bass if the water starts to get warm I would find some big shallow rocks and fish around them.  They are prespawn and the should be staged up on the points as you work to the backs of cuts.  As for walleye I am sure you will run into some while bass fishing.  I would throw the normal stuff for this time of year.  Jerkbaits, grubs, inline spinners, etc.  If the water gets warmer you could catch some on top, but I think you are still a few weeks away from that action.

If you're in VNP try the rock piles near the grass at the mouth of the rat for crappies. But careful. Many lower units have been sacrificed there.

Table is updated below.  Opening day is likely in jeopardy.  Lots of good dates available for those sitting on the sideline.

That's ok, got the Bear hunting out of my system years ago.  Still have some good spots on the GPS up in the Arrow head!  Did love me some good greasy bear roasts though!  😋

Yes, I'm on the West End.  No crappies yet, but I caught a couple of Cisco's and some perch this morning. Been dealing with chores at the cabin since 10 AM, so not much fishing.

Hard to tell exactly how much snow the way the wind was blowing it around, close to that I'll bet!  3 sleds went by earlier. Brian, are you on the west end? Did you fish?  Catch any crappies?

I was on the lake this morning. There is still a lot of ice. I went down to the housing on my auger a couple of times.  I'm not sure how much snow we got yesterday and last night but it looks like around 7 to 8 inches at least.
