Water temps sure took a nose dive, 62 deg to 57.  No weed anywhere no fish also, Even sunnies were hard to find.  Maybe with this post we can get some talk.  Cannot not believe, o e week after opener and NO posts about fishing.  I know Rick is trying to improve the forum,  but if people do not start posting I see the site dying out.

Went to Rice on Sat and found pretty much the same. A week of cold and rain messes up a shallow water pattern we'd normally look at this time of year.   That doesn't mean stay home, rather look to deeper water where temps are stable.

I'm located in the cities here. Last week we had similar temps. Northerns had shifted half a cast into the weedbeds. We used 5" swimbaits on bullet jigs to pick them off, and did serious damage.

Thats what I would think, but there are no weeds not even anything that looks like emerging weeds just the old dead ones on the bottom. along with old bullrushes.  What surprised me was the water was clear and I did not even see any  small fish in the shallows.  I am sure these cold temps and low water levels has something to do with lack of fish.  Hey surface did you do any good on  Rice????

I was out last Friday on Fish and as Loadmaster says, found no fish in the shallows and very little if any weed growth in shallows. My water temps read 49-50 degrees however on both locators. While learning side imaging I did find weed growth however. Real tight clusters within two feet of the surface in 8-10 feet of water. Didn't take time to fish them, but I'm sure they held fish. I did catch one 18" eye over 18 feet of water on a stick bait. Threw it back of course. Next week looks nice and with this rain the water levels should rise, so I'll be back out.

I would love to give you a fishing report Load but I have not been lucky enough to make it out yet. Any nice days we've had yet I've been hanging on to the handles of a lawnmower.  I've also been lucky enough to get fresh paint on two sides of my garage and now working in my back porch on this rainy day.  Add to that a full time job and the every other day of cold, wind and rain, not the best fishing weather.

Not the report you're looking for but at least you have a better idea of my lack of posts.  Still learning my way around the new updated site as well. I'm very happy that it works so well on my smartphone!!

Take care,

Tom (BD110)
