A buddy and I started the day on Little Detroit and caught a few northerns and a few small bluegills. We left quickly...

Heading to Melissa to fish walleyes and maybe find some suspended crappies.

Fished 30 20 15 & 10 FOW mid - day but had no success. Moved into a more traditional walleye spot and caught the first and only fish at 230pm. We continued to have fish come to our lines from that point until 7pm when we left. With the camera in down view, I was able to watch the fish come into the area, hug tight to the bottom and got little rise while the camera was down. After dark, the fish would rise and had one hit but lost it five feet beneath the ice. I would say we had quite a few fish come in, enough to keep us there hoping for a change in the mood the fish had previously been displaying.

I tried to get onto the lake on Friday evening but my vehicle couldn't get onto to ice from the NE access. Where did you guys get on at?

I drove on the NE Access yesterday and it was fine, couple small ridges but even a car could drive over them. Previously it was not good....open water at the shore, floating ice but now it has firmed up nicely.

Did you come onto the lake at the public access on the East/North East Corner of the lake off of County 17?

Yes, the only designated Public Access on the lake. It has been bad all year but Sunday (yesterday) it was just fine, it firmed up. I actually pulled my hard house off that same access about 2:30pm and it was good, like I said a couple little ridges more like small humps that any vehicle could drive over without any issue.

Ok I tried driving over it on Friday evening and was bottoming out with my SUV so just want to make sure. I don't have the clearance of a pickup but would like to get out there and do some fishing this weekend.

Unless it heaves again you should be fine...I mostly portable fish many lakes and carry a heavy duty chisel and I've used it on Melissa more than once this year. Many times I have to fix accesses on some of these outback ponds I go to or I just have to walk on unfortunately.
