I'm going to purchase a new trolling motor in the off season. Im looking at a Minnkota either power drive V2 or a terrova. I already know that I'm getting it with an I Pilot link. It's going on a 17' Crestliner Superhawk so it's a deeper v. Any insight would be great

Without a doubt get a Terrova.

Easier to deploy and stow, built sturdier, and all power is killed when stowed. Unless they recently changed the Powerdrive, when stowed it still draws power for the I-pilot unless you turn it off (2 steps instead of one).

Also the PD only goes up to 70lbs. With your rig I wouldn't go with anything less than an 80 pound. If you have room for three batteries and your trolling motor budget allows, a 36v 101 would be the cat's meow.

Wish I had room for three batteries in my boat.....

For shaft length, I would get a 60" for your boat if you fish in moderate/heavy waves much.

Trolling motors are like pole barns. You will never regret getting something bigger than you think you need smile

Thanks for your input. I just ordered a Terrova from Profishingsupply.com and got a great price.
