Will be in the area for the next week and plan on fishing the lake, can anyone provide ice condition reports? Looking to pull my 16ft. castle to the big flats out from the Highbanks area. I have the option of pulling it with my prowler or hopefully the truck?? Any information would be appreciated, looking to go out of public access by Highbanks since they aren't open until the the end of the week?

Thanks

my wife said they posted on facebook...........I wont don't go there but.........she said kim posted there was 15 inches of ice and they were going to allow vehicle traffic. sorry 15 inches isn't enough for my truck.

I take it your going to go off the 3 birches access. everytime I check that out there is usually a ice heave there. good luck!

We were out last weekend and there was at least 16" everywhere we drilled. Some places had more. The cold weather with no snow will definitely add more by the weekend

You must have a heavy truck LOL.JK I know I wouldn't drive out either if I felt it wasn't safe.We had that much ice at our place 2 weeks ago & with the cold & not much snow it must be making ice. That being said I know Winnie is different than Sand plus we had some warm temps too.Good luck & be safe.

Just to pass on information to all interested, I did take my wheelhouse out of Birches landing on New Years day with my side by side. There is a minor heave that is on the shore just to the side of the landing that may create problems later but for now that access is safe and usable. I took my house off on the 3rd and used my full size pick up truck to go in and out plus pull the house off. There was 20-21" of ice and we were 4 miles straight out. Fishing was ok but you can drive just about anywhere on the north half of the lake?

Happy Fishing
