I gave Calhoun an honest effort recently. Although I love the lake and had good spots. It did not treat me well. They should be there someplace.

Just curious, how thick the ice was on Calhoun and at what depth was that at? any info would be helpful, thanks.

welcome steelhead-out there I would drill lots of holes and bring a camera. Always have 2 lines out

it doubles your odds.

Good Luck

We had guys-holes-cameras-flashers-GPS's and a historically good location. We did hook into a muskie/pike. Alas last week on that lake down my hole she was pretty bleak.

Some lakes that are good in the summer are bad to impossible in the winter -cannot even explain it sometimes, I would love it if the city lakes were good in the winter because they are close to my house, not full of liter(ironic) and quiet if you figure something out Pm me.

I've fished Harriet a couple of times in the last week. This cold snap will really help the ice as it was getting sketchy. Yesterday had 5" of ice.

I've been going out as often as I can the past few weeks.

The ice is pretty uniform my tape has said 6-8 inches.

As far as the fish go all im gonna say in the forum is try 24-30 foot of water close to shallow structure. Pike have been tight lipped but " insert fish here" have been slow in the day but very active around dark and past until I leave. Sorry im so vague but those of you who fish it enough to find em know why. Calhoun has enough structure and depth too make it a bear to figure it out and im glad it is such a pain sometimes

Hey all, new member here.

Going to try Harriet again this evening, had a few decent marks but couldn't get them to bite on the crank baits. Any advice would be helpful as I'm pretty much an ice fishing noob. Would love to get some results on this lake as it's near my home and I hate putting a ton of miles on the car to catch fish when I'm surrounded by lakes.

Good morning,

I have a question about access points for Calhoun and Harriet . I commute to Edina every day and have all my fish stuff in my truck. I am interested in Harriet after work here soon....don't mind walking anywhere but where could I park my truck? Will it cost me? Is there a great place to park and walk? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

And thanks for the fishing suggestions and ice info.

Hey Jug, after work weekdays in the winter you should find easy FREE parking on the west side of the lake all along the south side. The East side parking is gone due to construction (along the bird sanctuary) and there is a pay lot on the north. This time of year parking shouldn't be an issue. Most of the houses I've seen have been on the north side or east side. Though everyone was machine-gunning the lake with holes looking for the fish.

Hey now the only fish I've caught through the ice was on a lipless crank. I use em too. Maybe next week i will get out there and give it a try
