Any reviews on Eagle Claw inline reels?

I purchased the Eagle Claw inline aluminum spool multiplier reel (red spool) recently and am having some issues. Any other experiences or comments out there

Related but unrelated. I bought a couple of the plastics EC's last year. I found you have to weed through some bad ones to find operational reels. The problem is the plastic spool can be warped causing it to rub on the reel frame. Which does not allow small 1/32 and 1/64 oz jigs to fall freely. Find a good one and they will stream down the hole freely.

I appreciate the free spool feature on inlines the most. Followed by the minimal twist. My opinion the reel does not twist the line in Inlines rather your jig twisting as you jig it and reel it up does. So the reel does its job right.

The problem with EC's and other lower cost inlines is the drag. They are so random and terrible. I basically turn in down all the way and then palm the spool for drag. Also on hooks I put my finger on the spot so it does not soon on bigger fish.

I recently bought the No 8 inline reel and find it to be really good in all departments.. Drag is still a bit scketchy but it works better that EC's.

I bought one with the aluminum spool last week. Returned it the next day. The mounting base was too thick to fit into the seat on my new Fenwick rod. Tried to put it on an Ugly Stick rod, and it was too thick for that too. Both rods are the style with the threaded collar for holding the reel in place. One of those things where you have to take it out of the package before you can find out that it's a problem.

I bought a Black Betty last yr and put a noodle tip rod on it and it is real fun catching gills and crops on it. the reel works flawless my smallest jigs drop to the bottom on their own and the noodle tip is as sensitive as a spring. It did cost me $130 tho but I've decided to not buy junk anymore.
