Thanks for the report.

Nice report.

I was on Washington Sunday and found anywhere from 2.5-5 tops around 3rd and grassy...

You guys should get after those Nice duck lake walleyes. No state stocking and a grand total of two caught in a full lake survey (a few midnight bucket stockings).

As for Tetonka and Madison, they are big enough to take a little pressure.

Talked to a guy last night and said he was out sunday on washington and said there was 6+ most places!!

Posted

Yesterday there was under 3 inches on Washington. Be careful on the ice right now!

Posted

Its not incorrect. I varies.. There was a guy on washington and said there was 6+ sunday.

I said in the other post with a quote: Do not take my words for it. Better go and see for self than not to.

Please don't ask or infer that folks not share info.

It re froze good. I talked to local bait shops. Monday night and lastnight.. There will be people out there on the weekend. I will admit that some reports may not be 100 Percent accurate but ice is never constant, no ice is ever 100 percent safe. There could be 6 inches one places and 2 then next!! So im just saying the estimates. Just trying to help out, but if you guys want to keep harping on me then go ahead.

This is why if you're giving 'estimates', it's probably best to give the low end so someone doesn't get the wrong impression.

Wow!! Okay, I will do better next time. Never had so many people team up and nag! HSO is supposed to be for helping each other out I though? I made a mistake because I did the max ice instead of minimum thickness, sorry, give a guy a break.. Were about helping each other.. But maybe i was wrong..

Fellas, I checked some lakes today and actually used a measure on my ice scoop.

Madison- DNR access, out 100 yards, drilled 3 holes had 5-5.25"

Francis- east bay, Duck lake and Washington- out from Westeood all 5-5.5" of mostly clear black ice, Although would crack while walking, considerably more in someplaces.

I planned to fish today with my girlfriend but we both felt it best to wait for 6" of safe ice. So we drove around to the lakes, drilled some holes and ended with a game a cribbage and some excellent bloodies at Westwood, which we agreed felt better than sitting in paranoia going after a fish. I myself will give the lakes some time yet.

North shore Washington is very odd this season thin spots everywhere. 6" was the strongest hole and prolly under 4" in spots. No wheelers today or yesterday for that matter. Ice made lots of odd sounds today booms pops bubbles coming up the hole. Fishing was terrible!

Posted

Yep guys, ice is very inconsistent. Again.. Could be 6inches and then 10 yards away 3 inches. But it should be good by weekend wouldnt ya say Dan Z and HOBBSTER and everyone else?

Posted

Confirming dan z. report. North shore Washington today. Walked out, no wheelers although someone did attempt and turned back (good decision). Measured many holes all the way to the deep hole area. From 4" to 7", the norm was around 6". Lots of thinner spots (the 4 inchers). Ice cracked a couple times when walking, spooky. Fishing wasn't too bad, got lucky and sat over a school of panfish and farm animal fish as a bonus. Want to use wheeler but it's just too risky at this time in my opinion.

Well perchSlayer I've been watch this topic an the people attacking you on this topic an way to go on staying strong! An sounds like you are right on what you wrote, sounds like other people have found the same ice thickness an sounds like some people should say sorry for attacking you on this topic!

PerchSlayer, glad you are sticking with it. I appreciate you taking the time to try and "help" everyone out with some information. Those who are stating that misinformation here leads to people falling through the ice are really stretching to make that connection. Everyone is responsible for taking any information (either on this forum or in person) and making responsible decisions with it. I use this forum as a great way to see and hear what is happening in the area, not to try and identify if there is 3 vs 4 inches of ice in one location. Realize that not everyone shares the points of views expressed here in this thread, and that yes we are all on here for similar reasons to help one another. Keep the updates coming, and hopefully the support will be shared by other members as well! Thanks!

Seriously. The walking can't possibly get any easier right now. WALK.

Ice has been sketchy this year to say the least. Use caution.

I've been fishing since november 16th several times a week...I'm still using my float suit and have my picks around my neck.

Wake up folks. It isn't mid january.

I think that early ice no one assumes its safe, I think the report was great, because it would at least give some people a starting point. Things to look for, and the come back on here and confirm or at least give their report of the ice thickness, no need to jump down a guys throat for gathering information. If someone goes through because they were being dumb and not checking the ice, that's their own fault.

And as far as posting what lake is producing walleyes, that is to each their own. You really think that posting it on here, keeps the people off the lakes. Last year when cedar turned hot with pan fish, apparently no one posted it on line, and there were like 3 houses out there all year long...ya...right. Are you kidding me. The lakes down here produce good fishing in a rotating fashion because our lakes can produce quick growing walleyes because of a good stocking year, and then the numbers are depleted because of the fishing. It has been happening since i was a kid, and it will continue to happen. If you don't like the fishing reports for duck, don't go there, but sure as heck down criticize the guy for putting a report down.

I hit Duck last night. Yes, the walleye bite is on! Some jigging but the dead stick seemed to work better. Fathead on a glow jig.

Posted

Yep, To whoever didnt believe me or said negative stuff about my report, im sorry that you had to be that way, and i am sorry that people cant see I stated I got info from others and am just trying to help everyone. Anyone here is free to use the info as they wish and by all means check it to be sure. Conditions are always changing.
