Chain crappies

Hi everyone I haven't been having very good luck with crappies on other lakes and people keep telling me to go to the chain but they won't say where. So I was thinking of going sunday. What would be a good lake to start on for crappies? Any pointers such as depth or presentation. Anything helps!! Feel free to pm me if that is what you want. Thanks in advance!!

've always done well for crappies off of Hammers point, ut its a long walk from #22 access. I wouldn't think driving ove =r there yet would be smart.

I only had 8" of ice on krons bay last night

Yes, I'm sure these warm temps. along with last weeks rain took some ice. Weird winter, super cold November made for a great start, but recently it sure has slowed ice development. Just so we don't get a big snowfall before we get a good 12 inches of ice.

No cats back there, Only a few crappies so I moved back to my original spot where I saw 2 pike and 25 wallys or so. A lot of carp & cats also. But I missed the 3 that did try to bite. I will get them next time.

Again, new to the area and hoping to head out to the Chain tomorrow to try my luck there for the first time. I read in the forums about Hammer's point and was wondering if that is the point that the meth hole is off of or is it elsewhere?

Yes, the meth hole is located off hammers point.

I've caught some cats off hammers as well. don't try to drive to the meth hole. that can be unsafe all year long. Hammers to Krons bay were never a problem, however warm temps and rain right now need a cautious approach.

4 wheeler. Plenty of ice anywhere away from current and bridges on shoe.
